Value: £5.6million
The building is a 4-storey infill extension to King’s College Hospital. Built in modular construction with flat panel exterior cladding, the extension provides operating theatres at ground floor level, ward accommodation to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor levels and a rooftop plant level. A progressive horizontal evacuation strategy was required along with a fire-fighting shaft due to the height of the building.
The facility links to the main hospital street and due to its infill nature and close proximity to neighbouring wings, it required fire resistance from inside and out.
